THINK before you speak, Margaret

My boss is kinda nice to look at, and I’m trying to be nicer to him. I’m just kind of guarded in work situations but it is often only the two of us and for most of the year it is just him and I think he likes having company. He shares a little bit about his life and I actually share none of mine so I’ve been making an effort this week.

So when the chair of our board emailed and signed off with a joke about the weather forecast I tried to be humourous and charming.

“Have a good weekend - try to stay dry (on the outside :))” - the email said

“So he wants us to get wet on the inside?” - I said

Obviously.

“Yeah” my boss offhandedly chuckled, graciously not making the moment any more awkward.
